Happy New Year a few weeks in!

It has been awhile since we have blogged. Life with a 5 year old and family owned business has taken up a lot of our time, we can't complain ~ we are loving it and very blessed. Be sure to stay tuned for some upcoming changes that we are very excited about! We were so busy with so many things that I didn't get around to doing our own Christmas card so I decided we were going to do a New Years Card. So Happy New Years to all and hope you enjoy seeing out little man!

Halloween

Well Halloween has come and gone and now we are starting to think about Thanksgiving - oh where does the time go? We had a fun filled Halloween with "moon bounces" and "out of this world candy and cupcakes" - hmmm!! Unfortunately, I was recovering from surgery ~ so the boys went door to door! But I have to show you what I made from laying on the couch.
This is what it originally looks like, just a regular Pumpkin Treat Bucket from Target.
But I wanted to make it look like a planet - so I covered it in foil! Just a thought I had as I was recovering and it took no time and was all done from the comfort of the couch (yes Ross and the Dr - I did stay off my feet like I was told).
I even did the inside, so those who put the candy in would still only see foil - crazy I know! But below is the cutest Astronaut ever along with his "space dog" dressed as a pumpkin!
Brock had lots of fun being an Astronaut and is still in love with space! Stay tuned for photos of his adventures to Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian ~ he is so excited to go!

Desire and Brady... It looks like ya'll had a great time creating your engagements portraits. These are some cool images! Leave it to Ross to stop a random stranger in the middle of the street for a portrait with their truck. I love the 1920's vintage look! Look forward to blogging about your wedding. - I know its going to be fun!

Our Family Grows by Four Legs

Yes that is right, we have added to our family and it is Rexie our new dog! Santa came to the studio this past Saturday for Ross to do a quick mock up on the Santa Set and Santa gave Brock a puppy while he visited. I have to say as the mom, it was by far the cutest thing ever!!! We were going to give Brock a puppy for Christmas but then we decided to build a house and it won't be ready for a few months - not until after Christmas. But then I had a great idea to have Santa really give it to him in person. My parents (we are staying with until the house is finish, yes, I know we are crazy!) thought now would be a great idea since they can help with the potty training since they are home all day long. It has been fun! I forgot about those sleepless nights when I had Brock, but it is getting us prepared for another baby. No, I am not pregnant - yet. Rexie has brought a lot laughter in our home. Look at these adorable images when Santa gave Rexie to Brock!Santa asking Brock what he would like for Christmas, of course Brock says a puppy!

Look at the shock on his face when he Santa opens the box - yes Brock it is real!Thank you Santa!

The first portrait of Rexie, and by far not the last.

The come about of the name "Rexie". When Brock received the puppy he asked Santa, "is it a boy or girl?" Santa replied, "it is a girl". Brock, "can you make her a boy"? Santa, "no she was made a girl". Brock, "Mommy, can you use your magical powers and make her a boy so I can name the puppy Rex (from Speedracer)"? My reply, "no Brock. God made her a girl and we can name her Rexie and call her Rex for short". It is sweet that Brock really thinks I have magical powers, one day he will be disappointed but until then I will let him believe!
Thanks to www.Snipsa.org where we adopted sweet little Rexie!

Tough and Cuddly all in one!

Two boys with a baby sister you can guess it... football and doll houses! Kaleb and Parker play a few downs at the local football field with their dad and Brock, while mom and Addy are back at the house for a tea party. Amazing how Ross can photograph in two locations at the same time :o) Thanks Patrick for the yummy breakfast you made Ross and I, next time I will make Ross fire off the grill and make his speciality steaks. p.s. I love the collage Ross created for Parker!

The NEW Benton Life Blog

The new Studio Benton blog!!! This is Brandyce, Ross’ wife. One day Ross asked me if I could blog since I love blog stalking (thanks David for this term) for decorating and fun ideas. I said, “sure!” “What do you want me to blog about? The decorating ideas I have come up with, the cool shops I have found? The crazy things in our life?” He said, “no, Studio Benton’s blog”. After thinking about it and discussing it with my partner in crime who got me addicted to blogs (Krystall, check out her kids on Studio Bentons facebook fan page), I told him I would and would put a twist to it (photos, ideas, decorating and the joys in our family). So here is the new Studio Benton blog: The Benton Life! Our life isn’t glamorous, it is REAL. We are doing what we love and loving what we do, capturing

REAL FAMILIES ~ REAL BABIES ~

REAL SENIORS ~REAL WEDDINGS.

Capturing the REAL relationships between people is what makes our hearts smile. We know what happiness is and what makes us happy, not a new car or new house or new clothes or “things”, it is the love between people and our family. Check out these awesome portraits Ross has created, these are just a few of my favorites of the past few sessions he has done. I have to say, I am lucky to be married to such a talented and warm hearted man that can capture people they way they are!

Love,

Brandyce (aka: Ross’ wife)
